San Rafael River Adventure, Experience Nature and Adventure in One

Learning about San Rafael River Adventure when I watched it first on TV made me interested to visit the place. It caught my attention because it seemed to be a perfect haven for someone looking for nature and adventure in one. And as a person who loves being in nature and also an adrenaline junkie, I thought this is a perfect place for me. And yes, it is.

San Rafael River Adventure is a resort and events place that offers a great venue to experience the perfect mix of recreation and relaxation. The resort offers unique accommodation filled with great amenities. It also has an array of exciting facilities and water adventures that guests can enjoy. The resort is located in Bulacan that makes it accessible also for people who wants to go on a getaway and spend time to relax without traveling too far from Manila. It is just an hour drive from Balintawak exit.

How to go to San Rafael River Adventure?

Going to San Rafael River Adventure is easy whether by commute or private vehicle. You can use North Luzon Expressway to go to the resort or take the route from NLEX Balintawak Toll Plaza. You may check this link for driving directions. In our case, we took a public transport. We rode a Baliwag Bus in Cubao. Travel time normally takes 2 hours but due to road construction that time in Baliwag, our travel time turned into 3 hours.

We alighted at the town of Baliwag then looked for tricycles that could take us to San Rafael River Adventure. It was already late evening so we had no choice but to take a special trip that costs Php 200 per tricycle. Travel time to the resort is 45 minutes.

Accommodation

Staff greeted us upon our arrival. Welcome drinks were provided to us. We also registered as a standard procedure for check in. Afterwards, we were taken to our rooms. We occupied two Glass Cottages, one for us boys and the other one for the girls.

The accommodation is very unique that has a forest-inspired feel. The Glass Cottage is made of one-way glass walls. The interiors are not totally visible from the outside but still offers unobstructed view of nature from the inside. There are also window blinds that can be simply pull down if needs privacy.

The Glass Cottage can comfortably fit up to 4 persons. It has two beds with one located at the loft. The room has air-conditioning. It also has TV, electric fan, dining table and cabinet. It also has a bathroom. The cottage also has a veranda with tables, chairs and a hanging bubble chair.

The ambiance and comfort instantly made me like our accommodation. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. It was a great experience staying at the Glass Cottage. It perfectly provided me the feeling of being in nature with its structure and surrounding.

Glass Villa at San Rafael River Adventure

San Rafael River Adventure also has other types of accommodation. They have a Glass Villa that is perfect for big group, which can accommodate up to 20 persons. The villa is air-conditioned and is equipped with beds and other in-room amenities. The resort also set up tents at the camping site for Glamping. This is for guests wanting to experience a little more adventure. It’s a unique accommodation with a same set up like a basic bed room inside.

Dining

Plated breakfast for guests staying overnight is provided. The choices are limited though. The resort doesn’t have its own restaurant yet but they have a kitchen that serves meals for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner.

Facilities

San Rafael River Adventure also features spectacular facilities. The resort certainly offered us the feeling of being at the right place for recreation and relaxation by these facilities such as the outdoor pool overlooking the Angat River, area for gardens, and several corners provided with hammocks and lounge chair. Each spot is a perfect location to simply just relax or chill out.

The resort also offers activities and water adventures that guests can experience. They have ATV, boating, paddle boarding, kayak, horseback riding and Jet Ski. Our group tried some of the activities like Jet Ski and ATV. I also tried standup paddle boarding since I haven’t able to experience that yet. Luckily I was able to balance myself and was able to stand up even for just a few minutes.

The resort also has a river cruise, which we were able to experience as well. The cruise set sail through Angat River and normally takes an hour. The river cruise was a pleasant experience. There’s a karaoke and a man-made pool that guests can use during the cruise. My friends were able to try the man-made pool and it looked like they enjoyed the strong rush of water. Our short tour was also provided with snacks that made the cruise even more enjoyable.
