White Water Rafting Experience in Cagayan de Oro
From 7 down to 5, High5! I thought our CDO and Camiguin trip will be canceled because of some back outs. Yet we managed everything just to make this happen.
Me and my former officemates, Majoy and Marlon decided to meet at NAIA terminal 3 at 3:00 AM. I wasn’t able to wake up on time, if it’s not because of Marlon who called me at 2:30 AM, I wouldn’t be able to wake up. I arrived at the airport at past 3:00 AM and Majoy was still on her way. After a couple of minutes, she arrived. We were on a rush that time since it was already boarding time and katatapos lang namin mag check in. So super takbo kami, luckily we were able to make it.
At 5:45 AM, we arrived at Cagayan De Oro Lumba Airport. We went to an eatery first outside the airport to have our breakfast. And from there we waited for another officemate, Aphol and her boyfriend. They arrived after few minutes and had their breakfast, too.
I contacted Kagay (0917.712.2323) for our White Water Rafting experience. I wanted to try the Experts course but my colleagues are scared. I told them, “ok, let’s just do the Advance course”, but some of them are still scared of the idea, they just wanted the Basic course. But since I’m the one who made the itinerary, advance course kami! 🙂
By the way, our initial plan is to have White Water Rafting + Dahilayan Park Adventure in Bukidnon, since 2 of our colleages backed out, we can’t afford to spend much for that anymore. So we ended up availing White Water Rafting only.
Kagay team fetched us late and they just gave us the CD with our water rafting photos for free.
From the airport, it was 45 minute travel to the river wherein we’ll be having our white water rafting. As we arrived at our destination, nagsuot na kami ng aming mga gear, and of course picture taking.
The ride was thrilling, I almost fell off from the raft. Minsan bumababa kami from the raft then nagsswimming sa river. Mejo scary because I’m not used to swim at the river. Baka may snake. Then I also experienced to jump from the big rock to the river. Ang saya!
It was a fun experience. Our body ached after the rafting. As the course ended, we took a shower at the restaurant then had lunch. Super gutom na kami.
Here’s our lunch:
“Butcher’s Best Barbecue is a highly recommended food stop for barbecue lovers. They also offer their famous Butcher’s sisig and 100 percent Angus beef. It started as a food hobby in 1998 by enterprising young cousins and business partners Ben Hur Sia, Eric Yap, Kim Clark Yap, Bronson Ching, Kevin Ching, and Stephen Ching. It was very well received by the locals and tourists (some claim it serves the best barbecue in town) that they currently have two branches, one in 87 Hayes St. and the other one located in the university belt (Xavier University). Both places have air-conditioned and outdoor dining areas for its customers.”
And here’s our order:
It’s true. It was one of the best barbecue I’ve tasted. The food is affordable also.
Afterwards, we went to the grocery and bought some food for our Camiguin trip the next day. Then, we went back to our lodging. And we slept. Good Night CDO!
Trip Tips:
- Carinderia and food stops are available outside the airport, food was good and not that pricey.
- If you’ll go White Water Rafting on your first day, it is advisable to meet Kagay at the airport to save time. Airport is almost an hour away from the city proper.

Wew, the photos above(food) make me hungry. Haha, that's my first comment. Nice post. I tried water rafting once. It was indeed a very good experience. It worths the price. I am already satisfied with the beginner course. The activity gave me muscle pain though. So I won't try it anymore if given the chance. Or I'll just sit in the raft without doing the paddle. Hehe.
@marxtermind: That would be cool! I always want to try that too, but I'm too scared:( (LOL:))) .

Wow!. Great foods, I miss Cagayan already. Every time I went to Cagayan the first place I wanna visit is the water Rafting part. Well, it always gives me thrills and excitements. I've been water rafting for almost a year, still, I never get tired of it. So to those who haven't experience rafting, you should try it. Good post by the way and great pictures mate, keep on posting!
