The Adventure Continues at CWC

It was just last 2011 when I discovered my interest to wake boarding. I’m not a sportsperson but when it comes to adventure, I’m a junkie; adrenaline-junkie to be certain. I go to places wherein there are extreme activities and adventures to do. I always make it to myself that I could at least try something new in every travels that I do.

Wakeboarding is a surface water sport which one rides a wakeboard over the surface of a body of water. It is said that this sport was created from a combination of water skiing, snow boarding and surfing techniques.

There are two places I’ve known that offers this watersports activity, wakeboarding, in the Philippines; (1) Lago De Oro at Calatagan, Batangas and (2) Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC) at Pili, Camarines Sur. I’ve read that soon there’ll also be wakeboarding at Nuvali in Sta. Rosa Laguna. It seems like I’ll be having a new hang out place near the Metro soon.

Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC)

Among those water sports places, I’ve only been to CWC to experience wakeboarding. Eventhough Calatagan Batangas is nearer from the Metro Manila, I’ve never tried to get there to experience the much raved about watersports activity. I’ve seen the resort before, we were able to pass by the area when we went to Burot beach last summer. I initially planned to include wakeboarding on our summer getaway but due to budget and time constraints I ditched the plan.

Camsur Watersports Complex is a watersports park created for wakeboarding, wakeskating and waterskiing. The complex is located at Provincial Capitol Complex Cadlan, Pili and is approximately 15 to 20 minutes from Pili Airport or commonly known as Naga Airport. The watersports park offers free shuttle from airport and from Naga going to the resort area. But if you fail to catch these free shuttles, from Naga you may ride a bus going to Legazpi City and  alight at the Provincial Capitol. Then from there you may ride a tricycle or multi-cab which will take you to CWC.

Nothing has changed at the complex when I visited it the second time around. There were tourists flocking in, locals hanging around, wakeboarding enthusiasts waiting for their turn. In fact, a place for those who look for adventure and relaxation. An ideal place somehow similar to what I’ve seen when I chanced upon on some holidays to fuerteventura.

You can relax and get pampered as they offer professional massage.

What I like most about this watersports park is they don’t have entrance fee as they only charge for the activities or amenities you wanted to avail.

Wakeboarding

Me and my travel buddies availed the one-hour wakeboarding. The one-hour rate for beginners (cable pass rate) costs PHP 125.00 + equipment rental (Life Vest & Helmet) of PHP 40.00. A PHP 500.00 initial deposit is needed but will be refunded after the activity. The cable pass rate also includes a free use of swimming pool. A great deal, isn’t it? To know more about their rates you may visit the CWC website.

After we had settled our bill, we walked excitedly towards the beginner’s area for the wakeboarding experience.

There were a lot of people waiting in line for their chance to practice wakeboarding. We lined up then waited for our turn. Well, picture taking killed our boredom while we’re in queue.

Audiences from the queue like me couldn’t help but to chuckle on some funny stunts this activity could bring. There’s one who has been pulled by the cable and there’s one who fell from the wakeboard after a one-second ride to name a few. But of course, amazing maneuvers are also present for the show. I couldn’t help but to wish that somehow I could do the same.

Then it was our turn. I don’t have anything yet to show about how my wakeboarding turned out as one of my travel buddies, Elal, hasn’t uploaded our pictures yet. Elal, anong petsa na? 😉

As far as I can remember, I was able to wakeboard for 5 times during the one-hour time allotted for us. I was hoping someday I can try wakeboarding at the bigger area like those wherein professionals do the watersports. It was too late when I realized that beginners could also practice on that area.

Other Amenities

We left the wakeboarding area at around 4:00 PM. We went to the reception area and handed over our gears and life vest. We then availed our free use of swimming pool.

We ordered some snack as well on their local restaurant as we were already feeling hungry after we did the wakeboarding adventure in CWC. We had pizza and pasta.

It was indeed a delighting and exciting experience as we had our take to wakeboarding. Our images only show how we had so much fun on our visit to CWC in Pili, Camarines Sur.

We left the area at around 6:00 PM as one of our travel buddies need to catch a bus going to Manila as she has still work the next day morning. While me and my two companions headed to my grandparents’ home in Bula, Camarines Sur to spend another night before we go back to Metro Manila the next day.

CamSur Watersports Complex is open until nighttime so for everyone not to be left hanging of the adventures this park has to offer. The next time I’ll be visiting Camarines Sur, I will try to stay overnight here so to try their accommodation and wakeboarding during nighttime.
