Pentahotel Kowloon, Our Cozy and Trendy Accommodation in Hong Kong
Being non-first timers in Hong Kong, our group decided to find an off the beaten place to stay for three days of our vacation. We would like to avoid having the typical Hong Kong trip so we wanted to spend our holiday somewhere out of the touristy spots. We wanted to settle somewhere out of the central area. Yet it should be a place that would be easily accessible. Following these factors, we discovered Pentahotel in Kowloon.
Pentahotel Kowloon Hong Kong is a contemporary hotel located in the area of Kai Tak in Kowloon East. It is a neighborhood lifestyle hotel ideal for vacationers looking for a place that is away from the crowd and busy streets of Hong Kong. It provides a great atmosphere that holidaymakers and nomads will like. The hotel is stylish and cozy that makes it also a great base to have a pleasing and relaxing vacation in the city.
Although the place is not centrally located, getting to the hotel was still easy. They provide free shuttle services from K11 Mall in Tsim Tsa Tsui (TST) and vice versa by schedule. A train station is also just nearby and could be walked for about 10 minutes.
We went to the hotel by riding the free shuttle bus. The transfer was easy and it took us about half an hour. It was already mid-afternoon when we reached the hotel. And upon our arrival, we were promptly welcomed by the staff and were assisted to the front desk for our group check in. Checking in was a breeze. I was impressed of how digital the check in process was. We filled up the form using the tablet provided. We were asked for our identification cards and voila, we got our room assignments.
Room
Pentahotel Kowloon has 695 rooms that feature excellent accommodation units that are well equipped and smartly designed. Each guest room is mixed of fun with functionality, comfort with creativity, and style with simplicity. Rooms are categorized to pentaroom King, pentaroom Twin, pentaplus King, pentaplus Twin and pentagrand. Rooms are reasonably priced. You may check the room rates here.
Three rooms were reserved to our group, which were all pentaplus King. I was delighted to see my room because it has sufficient space that I needed. The room was well appointed with a king size bed, a working desk, a toilet and bath, and a space for luggage.
The bed was very comfy. I’ve got my needed restful sleep every night. The bathroom was also clean and it was provided with excellent bathroom amenities. The room also has LED TV, electronic safe, air-conditioning, coffee and tea making facilities and hairdryer. My room also has a wonderful view. I was also surprised to see a smartphone, which was provided by the hotel free of charge. It can be used while checked in at the hotel and can be taken out while on a tour. The smartphone can be used for unlimited local and select international calls. It can also be used for data and Internet connection. With no concrete plan of where to go in Hong Kong, the smartphone had been very useful for our trip. It had become our guide and map throughout our stay.
I was able to like my room instantly because of its superb facilities and homey vibe. It highlights a stylish and a contemporary rustic design combining local cultural sensation.
Dining
The hotel currently has a pizza bar, a café and a restaurant. We’ve heard about great things about the bar and café and it was a shame that we weren’t able to try it. But what we had able to try was their restaurant located at their pentalounge. The restaurant is eatstreet@pentalounge. It offers favorite local Hong Kong dishes and a variety of comfort foods and all-day drinks.
Guests of the hotel are treated with free breakfast buffet at the eatstreet@pentalounge. The buffet is available from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Because waking up early was impossible for me, we always ended up having our breakfast in the last minute. We were left with 30 minutes before the buffet had to close; so we just grabbed everything that we’ve found appetizing.
Noodles and other local cuisines were the hit for my colleagues. But what I had enjoyed most from the breakfast buffet was their pastries and bread.
Facilities
Another thing that amused me about the hotel was their facilities. The hotel offers modern technology features, impeccable services and exceptional amenities. One is their pentalounge that is a single venue perfectly combined with the lobby, reception area, bar, and cafe. The hotel also has a business center, music station and game rooms. They offer a Wii, a game of pool or foosball in the two game rooms. The game rooms reminded me of being in a luxury hostel. The hotel also has a gym and a seasonal outdoor pool. Too bad it was closed during our visit.
Outside the hotel, you could also find some interesting wall art. Those were actually perfect background to take some few poses for Instagram uploads.
Our trip in Hong Kong had truly become more unique and enjoyable at the same time because of our stay in pentahotel. It provided us a place to stay within the urban community that we’ve actually desired to experience while in the country. There was truly nothing more that we could ask for than a cozy and chic accommodation set in a great neighborhood providing us comfy room and relaxed ambiance. And that’s the pentahotel way of treating its guests while in Hong Kong!
