One Night in Bangkok

Never leave the city of Bangkok without even trying its nightlife. It’s one of the good reasons why one should visit the capital city of Thailand. Although there are now a lot of places in Thailand to have a throbbing evening socials, Bangkok still has this different vibe when it comes to nightlife. It has been mentioned that nightlife in Bangkok has its character of being wild and rowdy; which I suppose ideal for party-goers, drinkers and adventure-seekers (you know what I mean). 😀

After spending our afternoon in Siam Ocean World and Madame Tussauds, we took a break; seated in one of the seats available outside the attraction area and waited for nightfall.

There are a lot of happenings to come about that evening so a rest for a couple of minutes before starting it is very much needed. Well the supposed quick pause took longer than planned. We lose track of our time and went behind our schedule.
A Dinner Buffet at the Baiyoke Sky Hotel
A visit to one of the high rise buildings in Bangkok is certainly a remarkable activity to do but a dining experience in one of these high rise buildings sounds more fabulous, isn’t it? As an admirer of buildings and road structures, Bangkok really caught my eye with their skyscrapers and highways which is very evident when we visited the tallest building in this city, Baiyoke Tower II.
The tower comprises the Baiyoke Sky Hotel which is said to be the tallest hotel in Southeast Asia and the fourth tallest all-hotel structure in the world.
We had our buffet dinner at Crystal Grill, which is said to be one of the greatest and utmost grilled and seafood buffet that offers an extensive selection of excellent cuisines.
The restaurant is open daily for dinner from 05:30 PM to 12:00 AM, which costs THB 690.00 per person. The buffet dinner happens at the 82nd floor of the building. Because I would like to have a magnificent view from the top, I made reservations for our group prior to our trip and requested for a table besides the window.
Without a doubt, we had the best spot. The restaurant area has an easy and cozy ambiance providing a panoramic night view of the impressive Bangkok through the full length of 5-meter glass panes.
And here are some of the food I’ve eaten during the dinner buffet.

Some of the desserts we’ve enjoyed eating to.

Me and my friends totally enjoyed the buffet dinner. Well, I think except for one of my companions who wasn’t feeling well that time. Exhaustion and dizziness, maybe.
After spending our time indulging to the different specialty food and cuisines, we went to the revolving roof deck which is located at the 84th floor of the building. The area is open from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. I’m not sure if there’s an entrance fee but it comes with the dinner buffet we had availed.

The revolving roof deck offers a 360 degree view of the prestigious city. I was in awe seeing myself on top of the city. Of course I remember the movie ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ when the main characters went to the observatory deck of the Empire State building in New York. Well, I’m hoping to see myself visiting that place in the future.
When we had finished our round, we went out from the roof deck, then left the building.
Not yet Ready for Patpong
Patpong is known to be an entertainment district in Bangkok, which also makes it as a red light district at the heart of Bangkok’s sex industry. Well I must say it is only one of the numerous red-light districts in this city.
The district is very famous for its go-go bars and ping pong shows. I got curious about the place and even got curious when I read about Grandeur Traveler’s Patpong experience. So I’ve asked my friends if we can visit the place. Oh before we get this further, I would just like to emphasize that I’m not a pervert; I’m just curious and just looking for a unique experience which somehow Thailand has.

Patpong is located at the two parallel side streets running between Silom Road and Surawong Road. The district can be walked from the BTS Skytrain Silom Line’s Sala Daeng Station, and MRT Blue Line’s Si Lom Station.

We came as planned, it was already midnight. A week before this we already set our minds about the show and everything but suddenly when we arrived at the famous streets where the bars are in, I called it off.

I don’t know, I got intimidated. I don’t think I’m gonna enjoy it that time. Even though my companions were constantly pushing me for us to pursue it, I said no. I think when it comes to such activities, I don’t like the idea of me initiating it or leading the plan, you know. I would just like to be that young innocent guy that will just follow whatever the happening is. I backed out from the plan, feeling conscious and afraid. I know that there would be next time for this thing, and when that time happens I’m gonna get in and fill in that curiosity.

The Frisky Khaosan Road

Because of what happened (or better to say what didn’t happen) in Patpong, we’ve decided to go to Khaosan Road to spend the rest of our night.

The road is still active as it is when we left it 14 hours ago; but the only different was the road is now covered with pubs and drinking areas.

We didn’t go far anymore and just spent the nightlife at the bar located outside the guesthouse where we stayed in. We ordered a tower of beer for the three of us (one of my buddies don’t drink); as well as Shisha. I got curious about how it works. All along I thought it’s an alcohol drink but I was wrong. Based on wikipedia, it’s a multi-stemmed instrument for smoking flavored tobacco which the smoke is passed through a water basin before inhalation. Well, I don’t smoke but this one is good.

Funny thing I noticed about Bangkok was their bucket beer. Me and one of my companions thought it’s the same thing what we have here in the Philippines where a bucket of beer comes with 4 to 5 bottle of beers. Well, in Thailand they have their own version of the bucket of beer. It means the beer is literally in a small bucket. You have to drink the beer from the bucket and can even share it with your friends using straw. Well, I found it funny yet cool. 😀

Speaking of beers, beer is a popular drink in this country thus never leave the city without trying it, especially the local beers. The country is said to be one of the countries that sell cheaper beers and alcoholic drinks. Me and one of my companions was able to try Chang Beer.

Well, I will still go for Red Horse or San Miguel beer! Yes, I’m biased. 😀

Although some of the plans were not able to execute as what we have set it, we were still able to enjoy the evening socials experience. No doubt we were able to enjoy those things that weren’t planned more. True enough, one should experience the nightlife in this city to complete one’s getaway in this country.
