One Month Stay in Ilakai Hostel Siargao
A wonderful place offering clean and affordable accommodation made me choose Ilakai Hostel Siargao as my home for a month in the island. The hostel has clean accommodation options from dorm to private rooms. It is also affordable because the property is offering discounted rates for long term stay. Since I was planning to be in the island for a month and actually I stayed for more, staying in a hostel was my best option. It was also a practical decision because I was on a budget for this trip. Coming to the island alone, this was also a perfect place for me to meet fellow travelers.
Ilakai Hostel Siargao is situated in Barangay Catangnan, General Luna. From the airport, I took a van to get to the hostel. It was already afternoon when I arrived. The location is off road yet nearby some of the tourist spots in the island. The entire hostel is made of natural and local material. The surrounding was full of plants and trees, which gave me the sense of I was in the middle of a forest or a huge garden. I instantly felt the comfort and quietude at the hostel.
Room
Ilakai Hostel Siargao offers a number of room types such as Deluxe Rooms, Budget Rooms, and Dorm Rooms. I stayed in an air-conditioned dorm room, which could fit twelve people. Since the island was just starting to reopen the time that I went, the dorm room wasn’t fully occupied.
The dorm room was overall clean and comfortable. It was huge with 6 bunk beds. Each bed is also provided with blanket and towel. There are also available locker cabinet inside the room. The locker is free to use by guests; however, you need to bring your own padlock. The room was also fitted with toilet and bath.
During my stay, I was also able to get the chance to see the other rooms when one of the staff toured me around. The private rooms, which are good for two are fitted with double bed, desk, and have its own toilet and bath. Below are some of the photos that I took.
Facilities
Ilakai Hostel Siargao also features a number of facilities giving guests the convenience while staying in the island. The hostel has a shared kitchen, TV lounge, laundry facility, and some other common areas. There is also a huge garden area where guests can practice yoga, sunbathe, or lounge on a hammock. The hostel also offers bike and motorbike rentals. Now, the hostel also has restaurant and gym, which is open for in-house and walk-in guests. The hostel also has complimentary Wi-Fi connection throughout the property for guests use.
The network was also one of my considerations when I decided to stay in Ilakai Hostel Siargao. I needed a reliable connection since I’m working remotely. Good thing both networks have reliable internet connections in the area. Although the hostel has its own LTE Business Plan Wi-Fi, I still brought my own prepaid Wi-Fi router that I could use during my work hours.
Ilakai Hostel Siargao is a perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a budget and laid-back accommodation in the island. I had a wonderful monthlong stay because of its pleasant accommodation and amazing amenities. The owner and staff of the hostel were also kind, friendly, and accommodating. Whenever they will go out to tour the island, they always asked me to join. Their hospitality made my stay memorable and enjoyable. Ilakai Hostel Siargao is more than just an accommodation for me, it’s a home and a happy place to stay in the island.
