Singapore City Tour
It was already 4:00 PM when we started our quick tour in Singapore. We had a lot of places to visit that day with limited time, so we planned to render at most an hour for each places we’ll visit.
Mustafa Centre
Our first destination that day is to go to Mustafa Centre. It is a shopping center open 24 hours wherein you can buy chocolates on a cheaper price. From Geylang Station we went to Farrer Park station and walked for about 5 minutes to reach Mustafa Centre.
There are lot of merchandise available inside the shopping center that makes the area tight. It was too crowded so expect rubbing elbows with shoppers. I was able to buy some chocolates for present to my family and friends. Chocolates were really cheaper compare to those being sold at malls and here in the Philippines, but not all chocolate brands are available here.
Merlion Park
We planned to visit Orchard Road after Mustafa Centre but we’ve decided to skip it and head straight to the Merlion Park as we don’t have much time anymore. So from Mustafa Centre, we went back to Farrer Park station going to Raffles Place. It is located in the Downtown Core and the Central Area, it features some of the tallest buildings and landmarks of Singapore.
From there we walked for 5 minutes going to the Fullerton Road, where the Merlion Park is. We were so excited to see the famous Merlion as we walked to the park. When we reached the park, I quickly looked for a good spot to shot the picturesque statue but it seems I can’t take a good one because my camera is acting up or is it just the lighting or some sort (or is it because I’m already tired from an all day travel).
The Merlion is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, used as a mascot of Singapore. Its name combines “mer” meaning the sea and “lion”. The fish body represents Singapore’s origin as a fishing village when it was called Temasek, which means “sea town” in Javanese. The lion head represents Singapore’s original name — Singapura — meaning “lion city” or “kota singa”. – wikipedia
From the park you can have a full view of some of the famous spots of the country. There’s the Esplanade, the Singapore Flyer, the Helix Bridge and the fascinating Marina Bay Sands.
Esplanade: Makansutra Gluttons Bay
It was already 8:00 PM, so after doing some photo ops at the Merlion Park we’ve decided to go to Makansutra to have dinner. It is one of the best places for dinner and supper in Singapore. From the Merlion Park, we walked for about 10 minutes to get to Esplanade. There’s an on-going concert that day and the area is full of Filipinos. It seems the area is a favorite place to hang out by most of the Filipinos who worked in Singapore.
We met Jen’s relatives to join us on our diner at Makansutra. We were treated by Jen’s relatives. We have Prawn Roll, Chilli Mussel, Yangchow Fried Rice, Drink, Grilled Chicken and Chilli Chicken.
Thanks for the good food. I liked the Chilli Mussel. 🙂
Singapore Flyer and The Helix Bridge
After dinner, we chilled for a moment and did some photo ops at the surroundings. Then we went to Marina Bay Sands. From Esplanade we walked for about 15 minutes to reach the Marina Bay Sands. We were able to pass by the Singapore Flyer, a giant Ferris wheel wherein you can have an aerial view of the city. It is the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, taller than the London Eye. If you’re planning to visit, make sure to book your Singapore Flyer Ticket in advance to enjoy this breathtaking experience.
We walked through the Helix Bridge for us to reach the Marina Bay Sands. It is a pedestrian bridge linking Marina Centre with Marina South in the Marina Bay area in Singapore.
Marina Bay Sands
I would be glad to to experience a luxury accommodation in Marina Bay Sands but my budget and resources limit me to do so. I’ve never been to a grandeur travel but wouldn’t it be nice to experience such sometimes?

So after we walked at the Helix Bridge, we finally reached the other part of the Marina Bay area. It was already 10:00 PM and the mall was still open. The area seems to be quiet, maybe because it was already late.
I would like to experience Marina Bay Sands. I was really impressed of its structure. The Sands Skypark was captivating, oh I love the infinity pool. But for the meantime, it was just all dream to me. Maybe next time that I’ll be in Singapore I could be able to experience those things.
And here’s what my companion is talking about, the Louis Vuitton’s Marina Bay Sands Store. Unfortunately, it was still under construction. The boutique will be placed in a standalone glass-and-steel Crystal Pavilion that appears to float on the water off the integrated resort at Marina Bay.
Skyscrapers in Singapore
After exploring the rest of the area, we resumed walking, off to the Marina Bay Sands MRT station. It was a 15 minutes walk from the mall. I was really captivated by Singapore’s skyscrapers. So while I walked going to the MRT station, I took some shots of the city’s high rise building.
From the Marina Bay Sands we rode the train going to Geylang Station back to our accommodation. Jen’s relatives and us parted ways at the Outram Park Station. Thank you for the treat. We enjoyed the company and thanks for walking with us from Esplanade to Marina Bay Sands. Imagine how long we walked during the tour. It was really exhausting. 🙂
We were able to get back to our hotel at around 11:30 PM. It was a tiring but fun day exploring the city. The Skyscrapers and structures were really captivating and charming.
