Year-end Post, A Rundown of My 2012

Predictions about the end of the world this 2012 did not happen but certainly the year is ending in a few hours. 2012 has been a well-traveled year for me, more traveled year than 2011 I must say. This year consists of festival, adventures, escapes, places, food and people. A year of experiencing different cultures, discovering new paths and food to indulge. It may not be a perfect year for me but no one wants a perfect one, right? But indeed, it’s a year of mixed emotions of happiness, sadness, excitement and dismay.

2012 Year-end Post
So before the year ends, let me take you back to my travels this year, 2012.

Festival | The Grand Parade

Festival is part of the Filipino culture that everyone should experience. It’s a celebration, a festive. I’ve been wanting to attend one but it’s only last January that I experience going to a major festival, the Sinulog Festival in Cebu.

Sinulog Festival is a truly colorful and fine festival to watch out for. Aside from its history and honor to Sto. Niño, the festival shows its culture and aesthetic.

Landmarks | Discovering the Trails

The trail started down south in South Cotabato when me and my friend, Maricar went to Lake Sebu and experience its culture and nativity. We were amazed with its simplicity as well as the cultural heritage of T’bolis. Few months after, I hiked up to Baguio together with some blogger friends and visited the unfrequented places on this mountain city. The visit to the Summer Capital of the Philippines proceeded with two more visits; a visit to Benguet’s Balatoc Mines and a relaxation inside Camp John Hay. I went back to Manila and retraced its history with my office mates.  Few days after, I traveled to Bicol region together with some of my blogger friends. We revisited the different spots in the region to sight the magnificent Mount Mayon.

Landmarks 2012
The trails not only leaded us to these magnificent destinations but to various and stunning experiences with communities and natures.

Adventures | Adrenaline Rush

I’m an adrenaline junkie and whenever I travel I’m enthusiast to experience something new or exciting. Talking about excitement, I’ve done a lot of rushing and adventurous activities this year. I trekked the beautiful Mount Pinatubo, almost passed out when I hiked up to the viewing deck of Taal Volcano crater lake, I went zip-lining in Lake Sebu, which is the highest in South East Asia at a stunning height of more than 600 feet, then went White Water Tubing in Sarangani, chased the waterfalls of Ditumabo Falls in Aurora and Hydro Falls in Benguet, went spelunking in Hoyop-Hoyopan Cave, braved the waves of Baler, La Union and Bagasbas. The adventure continued when we visited CWC again and tried wake-boarding and knee-boarding.

2012 Adventures in the Philippines

A Sea Escape | Water Adventures

One of the places that really interests me whenever I travel is the beach. I don’t care if my complexion gets darker as long as I could experience the sun, the sea and the sand. And this year is a full of sea adventures, underwater world discoveries and beach getaways.

It started with a trip to Coron which eventually became one of my favorite destinations this 2012. That trip proceeded with another two travels; a solo trip and a family trip. Coron never fail to amaze me everytime I visit its different spots.

I’ve been wanting to do another solo trip and beach camping and it was good that those goals happened this year, not only once but twice. A solo trip when I had a day to explore Gumasa Beach by myself and an invite to tour Coron solo. Then, beach camping when we went to one of undeveloped beaches in Batangas, Burot Beach and to the paradise of Calaguas. When in a beach, there’s no better way to end the day but watch the sunset. It might look dramatic but sunset never fail to stun me. Boracay has one of the best sunset that I’ve seen.

Food | A Tasty Feast

A travel is always accompanied with food, specialties and delicacies to be exact. In every destination that I’ve been to I ensure that I could be able to taste a portion of its cuisines or specialties. This year, I’ve been able to try numbers of local restaurants and delicacies in some of my destinations. I tried some of the different specialties of Tilapia in Lake Sebu, went to different local restaurants in Baguio and tried Sansrival in Dumaguete.

Southeast Asia | The Ultimate Travel

If there’s a travel that I’m really proud that happened this year then it was my Southeast Asia backpacking trip. We traveled 4 countries in 10 days. We were able to cope up with different cultures, see various unique places and indulge into different cuisines.

SEA Trip 2012
The journey started in knowing the history of Vietnam and continued in exploring the different temples of Cambodia. We jumped into the culture of Bangkok and felt amazed of the beaches of Phuket. The trip has subsequently  ended when we revisited the fine city of Singapore.

Indeed, 2012 is a year full of my travels to different places. But of course, these travels will not going happen without the help of my guides, references, hotels and accommodations, and most importantly the people I’m with during these travels.
A Rundown of My 2012

Absolutely, the people I’ve been with on these travels made my trips extra memorable. My 2012 seems like to be an adventurous year for me but this coming year, I’m somehow planning to lie low from traveling and settle for a more relaxed travel, sign of ageing? Lol. Although, I still have a lot of places to see and activities to experience. And this coming 2013, I am looking forward for these incredible travel experiences.
