A Boracay Feast: Eat, Drink, Party

Each of my visits in Boracay certainly had given me distinct memories; such coming from my different companions, various experiences and amazing stories. Each of these experiences composed not only with new and various adventures but with experiences with food and night out as well. As what I always mention on this blog, food is one of the vital parts of exploring one’s place, at least for me. I make time to try at least a delicacy or local restaurants in my chosen destination. Also, at least have a night to try how the night life is on the place of my choice.

As what I have mentioned from my previous posts, you will never run out of things to do in Boracay and that is true to food as well. This place has always something new to offer when it comes to it. In fact, when I visited the island the second time, I saw some newly opened restaurants. Then, in my recent visit, I just saw another area built that looks like a food court which has still few restaurants. The area is named as Boracay Uptown which is situated at Station 2, just a few walks from D*Mall heading to Station 3. Customers can dine inside or near the boardwalk facing the White Beach.

I will not be aware that this place exist if not of my companions who were really eager in looking for a new place to eat. We almost end up eating our lunch in one of the regular fast food chains in D*Mall but we continually walked through the shore until we came to this area.

There are Sbarro, Paraiso Grill, Dulcinea situated inside the said food complex but the restaurant that really caught our cravings was the Golden Cowrie.

Golden Cowrie offers quality native Filipino cuisine at affordable prices. I tried to research about the restaurant and I found out that this restaurant has branches in some provinces. Then I found out that it wasn’t my first time to try it as I was already able to try the restaurant in Cebu way back 2009. However, the branch in Cebu is named Hukad sa Golden Cowrie.

And here’s our food, affordable and tasty. What’s more good about this restaurant is their unlimited serving of rice. You may check their menu on this link.

If you are really looking for a cheap place to eat but not sacrificing the food quality or taste, then head to Smoke which is situated in one of the alleys in D*Mall. It was our first day, we were looking for a place to eat inside D*Mall area but every restaurants seems not to be appealing to us. My friends wanted a new one that can’t be found in the metro and so I eagerly searched for one until I remembered I passed by on this restaurant before when I was looking for some souvenir items. So, I went inside the alley nearby Andok’s and there I found what I was looking for, Smoke Restaurant.

It was jam packed with diners as it was lunch time when we came in. It was only a small area where only about 20 persons can dine in. They offers Filipino comfort food like sizzling dishes and other rice meals. So for us not to wait much longer, we placed our orders. Each meals cost about PHP 100.00 to PHP 200.00, very affordable.

After about half an hour, we were able to have our seats and then a few minutes after, our orders came. I wasn’t able to take photos of all the food we had since I was already tired then but here are some of the meals that we had eaten.

Two more things that one should never missed when in Boracay are buffet by the beach and ‘Paluto’ sa D*Talipapa. Since I’m over with buffet already, I chose the latter for our group dinner.

D*Talipapa can be compared to Metro Manila’s Dampa wherein you have to buy raw food and ingredients from the market and have it cooked in one of the restaurants situated in the area.

D*Talipapa is a cheap place to eat specially when you are craving for sea food. On this public market, you can also buy cheaper souvenir items, shirts and some beach stuff.

Boracay is definitely one of the places that will never run out of options when it comes to food. There are tons of restaurants and food stalls in the area, from affordable to expensive ones.

When traveling, one thing that I always set in mind is not to stint myself most especially when it comes to food. If my budget can still permit to spend then I spend. Some times we have to treat ourselves. One of the restaurants that caught me and my best friend’s attention the first time that we’ve been here is Aria Cucina Italiana, which is situated at the beachfront of the D*Mall.

But due to budget hesitation back then we weren’t able to try it so when we had the chance to be in Boracay again we ensure not to miss it anymore. On our last night, we had our dinner at Aria (for short) and indulged to their Italian specialties. We had pizzas and pastas.

They say that a beach getaway in Boracay wouldn’t be complete without sipping into that famous Jonah’s Fruit Shake. Do I need to say more about this popular fruit shake? Well, Jonah’s fruit shake is popular here. Some enjoys it but I find it ordinary. Nonetheless, I always end up buying one whenever I had a visit here. Because of a friend, I ordered one of its shake that has rum on it. It’s a rave so I guess it shouldn’t be missed. 🙂

Aside from fruit shakes, the restaurant also offers snacks, desserts, pasta and so on. We had some fruit crepes when we dined in on our first day. We were really hungry so we were able to finish all of them but truthfully, the crepes weren’t that outstanding; not even that good for us.

After indulging ourselves into different cravings and food raves in Boracay, the best way to end our night here is to party. One of the best area that I really enjoy visiting for a party is Club Paraw.

Here you don’t have to break a bank to party and have fun, two bottles of beer, a cocktail drink and a sisig pulutan will already suffice. Being with game and crazy friends really made our group wild and rowdy, a night out that we’ve been longing to do since then.

It was a great, fun and awesome night of dancing, drinking and partying with my friends. One of the best that I had. Indeed, it is true that when in Boracay bringing of friends are better than of family, well at least for this barkada getaway. ‘Till the next getaway, how about this summer? 🙂
